FDE Calendar

Paladin Career & Technical High School FDE Academic Calendars

What is FDE?

Student and family data over the years has confirmed what we have always understood: experiential learning is essential to student success. In recognition of this, our school calendar reflects the importance of this learning model.

Fridays, known as Fifth Day Experiences, run from 9:15AM-3:15PM. This late start accommodates the weekly staff meeting experiential preparations. If your student is on site for an experience, dismissal is 2:45.

All students should expect to be at school Mon-Thu, and to work from home on Fridays unless invited or signed up for an experiential trip.

There are three types of FDE in our calendar. They are:

Experiential Fridays allow students to explore various activities on and off-site. Students select experiences in advance during success team meetings the week prior. To facilitate an experience or propose an opportunity, contact Brooke Clysdale at Brooke.Clysdale@pcths.org

Mid Block Feedback Days provide students with additional support and feedback from teachers. Students can receive in-person guidance for projects, seminars, and community connections. Teachers invite students for one-on-one assistance, with FLEX Day expectations for those working remotely.

Paladin’s FLEX days allow students to work independently, practice technology skills, and prepare for real-world independent learning. Students communicate with teachers, complete a Learning Log or attend virtual meetings for attendance. They engage with staff through various means and are remote on Fridays unless invited to the building for support or experiences.
